During BVA3 we were able to see some clear trends. Where BVA1 had shown students enormously confident with new media tools, BVA2 had shown them hungry to help each other with their learning. By BVA3 they had grown that sense of belonging to a community of learners worldwide, but this year our students had embraced the collaborative tools of 2007's internet: YouTube, podcasting, mySpace and more. By 2007 the easy confidence of these students with media, as they edit themselves in and out of cinema films, podcast to their teachers, change the course of elections and more is taken for granted.
Learners have come a very long way in just three years: this is just the beginning of an accelerating journey - a little frightening, perhaps but mostly simply exhilarating. Our challenge is to keep our ambition for them moving as rapidly...
