I
am 19 and have been sailing for as long as I can remember.
My first boat was an Oppy, which I received for my 4th birthday
and my birthday itself was spent sitting in the boat in
the lounge. I sailed a Mirror with my father at Brightlingsea,
before moving on to sail with other young sailors in the
club at both national and international level. At 13 years
I won the Mirror World Championship with Clive Goodwin.
In 1998 I was selected to represent the Mirror Class in
South Africa and came sixth in the 2000 European championship.
Since early 2001 I have been sailing 49ers.
Currently I am based in Portsmouth where I am at University
studying for a degree in Creative Writing and Performance.

I
am 24 and have been sailing since I was about seven. As
a cadet I started sailing mirrors and moved into Bytes,
which I sailed at national level. I have spent the last
eight years crewing trapeze boats including hornets and
more recently ISOs, which I sailed at national and European
level. In 2000 I felt it was time to move on from the ISO
and the 49er seemed the perfect progression. This fitted
in well with Toby’s plans to sail 49ers. I have not
looked back since and feel that skiff sailing is definitely
the way forward.
I am
currently employed by an engineering company as an electrical
designer.
